Curriculum

Activity-based Learning

Cubs n Kittens Preschool, we believe that active learning is the most effective way for young children to learn and grow. Lots of reading time, arts and crafts, music, dance, exploring the natural world, and outdoor play are all important to kids for critical thinking and developing their social and emotional intelligence.

Cubs n Kittens’s curriculum is based on Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences where children are encouraged to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners through an activity-based program. We provide stimulating learning experiences focused on the strengths and needs of individuals. Education is a joint venture: an association between the school and the home to ensure that children become successful in whatever they choose to pursue. Right education materializes out of co-operation among the learners, mentors, parents and the community. Preschools have founded almost often on morals and educational methods designed for higher grades whereas , we have entrenched our school to inculcate values and passion about learning. Our first goal is to provide pupils with a joyful, secure, and safe environment. Also, to fill a significant void in the educational system.

We have a “Flexible Classroom Schedule” on each of our programs. This schedule will give you a sense of what makes up a typical day for children in that specific program.

Outdoor play is vital for young children, and we spend a significant amount of time outside at Cubs n Kittens Preschool.

Many of the developmental tasks that children must achieve—exploring, risk-taking, fine and gross motor development and the absorption of vast amounts of basic knowledge—can be most effectively learned through outdoor play. Children need the opportunity to explore the unknown, the unpredictable, and the adventurous. From venturing off-campus for nature walks and field trips to taking advantage of our playground, opportunities for wonder and discovery are limitless.

Preschools in Maharashtra are regulated by the state government under the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) policy. We follow a curriculum powered by Kreedo which is completely aligned with New Education Policy (NEP) and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

Most of the time we try to converse in English and sometimes also encourage children to speak in their mother tongue.

Potty training is not a must for preschool. Every Child is unique & they may take their own time becoming potty trained and preschool can also help in the process of them becoming more independent. Our staff is very skilled at supporting this process.

Teachers and Staffs

Our overall school-wide child-to-staff ratio is less than 10:1, with individual classroom ratios varying throughout the day. Our average classroom ratios vary for each program:

  • Playgroup: 20:2;
  • Nursery: 24:2; LKG and UKG: 30:2.

All classrooms have a qualified early childhood educator leading the class and an experienced sub-staff.

Our school head and Teachers hold a Master’s degree in literature and Bachelor of Education degree with previous teaching experience as well as experience with a leading EduTech company. Above all, we seek teachers with experience and passion to be in this field. All the staff have a valid Montessori course certification and undergo a comprehensive Background Check.

Cubs n Kittens Preschool also provides continuing in-service training and enables teams of teachers to attend conferences and workshops to bring back the latest in concepts, methods, and materials.

Our teachers have the energy, intellect, and charisma that take children on a magical and challenging voyage of discovery. Our teachers are well-educated and nurturing people who respect the children’s need for security while encouraging autonomy.

Our turnover is very low. We have many teachers who have been with us from day 1. But we also are pleased to have a good mix of both mature and younger staff.

We believe a school is only as good as its teachers, and we are fortunate to attract many exceptional applicants each year who are eager to become a part of Cubs n Kittens Preschool.

A good preschool will have teachers who have done early childhood education from reputed colleges. They should have complete knowledge of a child’s developmental stages and should also be caring and warm towards children.

Visit the preschool classroom with your child a few times before school starts. This can ease concerns about this new space. Visiting is also a chance to meet the teacher and ask questions about routines and common activities. You can introduce some of those routines and activities at home so they become familiar.

Psychoanalyst Leon Hoffman, MD, says; Socialization is the best indicator of whether a child is ready for preschool. "If he or she really loves to be with other kids, and has the capacity to socialize and separate from Mom, your child may well be ready." Readiness is key because starting preschool too soon can be stressful for a child.

During this stage, children should be able to ride a tricycle, use safety scissors, notice a difference between girls and boys, help to dress and undress themselves, play with other children, recall part of a story, and sing a song.

Being involved in your child’s educational experience is very important. Although we do not have parent volunteers that work in the classroom, we provide many opportunities for parents to be engaged with their child’s learning. Families are invited to attend a number of events throughout the year, such as Grandparent’s Day, Mommies Day Out, Daddies Field Day, the Annual Day performance, and more! We gladly welcome parents to join us for special celebrations, birthdays, and workshops. A teacher may also ask for parent volunteers to help with a particular activity. If you would like to participate you may always ask the Centre head for opportunities.

We do have a first aid kit with basic medicines for children. We try informing parents immediately, in case of illness. We also maintain children’s allergies chart and illnesses, if any.

We require parent involvement only when it comes to parent-teacher meetings and if they have interactive activities for children and parents together.

Your child will be provided with an interactive environment that help with their physical, mental, social, emotional, cognitive, and holistic development.
